Shawn and Kiersten Shaffer are the owners of Rainy Dayz Preschool, Kiersten is the onsite Director.
Kiersten has been in the child care industry since 1998, working with infants through 6 year olds. She received her Montessori certification in 2003 while teaching kindergarten and preschool in Sammamish, WA. Kiersten also worked for the Lake Washington School District as a special needs para-educator. Creating the preschool program has allowed Kiersten to continue to use her Montessori background to teach and to help develop a well rounded program for Rainy Dayz. Kiersten and her husband, Shawn, reside in Gig Harbor and have two teenage girls. About the TeachersRobin Gordon: Head Teacher Pre-K Robin graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2001 earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on literacy. She taught 3rd grade for two years in the Clover Park School District in Lakewood. Additionally, from 2003-2006 Robin taught various grades at Lighthouse Christian School in Gig Harbor. She has completed one year towards a Masters Degree in literacy as well. Once her daughter Bella was born in 2006, she temporarily put her teaching career on hold. She is excited for the new adventure of teaching preschool, and feels confident, as she now has a preschooler herself! Michelle Lopez: Head Teacher 4's Michelle has several years of early childhood education experience as both a traditional and Montessori trained teacher. She received her Montessori training in 1997 from the National Center for Montessori Education in Sacramento California while working as a 3-6 year teacher. Michelle is excited to share her love of science with the children in her class. Michelle is married and has four wonderful children. Peggy Pavlovich: Assistant Director/Head Teacher 3's Peggy brings the most important quality of an Early Learning Teacher classroom, which is, a true love for working with young children. Peggy spent three years working as a Pre-K Teachers Assistant and eventually as a Co-Teacher at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Tacoma. Peggy then moved on to Read-2-Me working with Kindergarten through 3rd grade children and an army of volunteers helping to improve reading skills for young children throughout the Tacoma School District. Rainy Dayz provides Peggy the opportunity to once again work in the classroom providing young children a great start to their early school experience in an atmosphere of learning and fun. Peggy is happily married and has two children, Kaitlyn (born 1992) and Christopher (born 1996). Michele Rush: Head Teacher 2's Michele has "grown up" in a preschool setting and acquired her passion for young children at an early age. Her mom was a preschool teacher throughout Michele's childhood and is still a preschool teacher in Colorado. Since graduating from Mesa State College in 2001, Michele has had over 10 years experience working with preschoolers. Her experience ranges from head teacher to director of various preschool programs. Michele and her husband have two wonderful school age children, Kiley (born 2001) and Ian (born 2003) who both attend Burley Christian School in Port Orchard. Michele is very excited to be teaching at Rainy Dayz where she has the opportunity to work with preschool students on a daily basis.
