Why Preschool is Important for Your Child….
As the incoming Kindergarten requirements change in our
state, parents are feeling pressure and finding it
necessary to put their child into a school environment
as early as possible. Most preschools don’t accept
children until they are 3 and potty trained. There is
plenty of research to support that this age is the right
time for preschool and that a child will be successful
in transitioning from being at home all day to going to
school. By age 3 most children have a basic
understanding of the world around them; they have gone
through the major separation anxiety stage (generally
between 18 and 24 months) and are curious and excited
about their surroundings. They are craving interaction
with other children and enjoy being in an environment
that is bright, challenging, positive and rewarding. A
quality program that puts the child first will provide
an atmosphere for your child to grow, learn and adapt to
the world around them. It will also provide a strong
foundation for learning as they venture into their new
career as a student!
But, what if you feel your child is ready before the age
of 3? You know your child best and should make the
decision based on the needs that you BOTH have. If you
don’t have a lot of young children in your neighborhood
or are unable to find appropriate play groups, you may
want to consider preschool for your 2 year old. This is
the age that your child’s social skills are beginning to
emerge and without regular practice with children their
own age, it will be more difficult for them to
transition into social settings.
Why Preschool at Rainy Dayz….
At
Rainy Dayz, we pride ourselves on the quality of
curriculum, facilities and experienced staff that
ensures the best education for your child. Our program
has been designed using Montessori and traditional
preschool teaching philosophies. All classes have been
created using Washington State's Essential Academic
Learning Requirements (EALR's) to stimulate emotional,
social, cognitive and physical development to ensure a
smooth transition into kindergarten and beyond.
Rainy Dayz believes in the whole child. We welcome the
challenge to provide programs that ensure proper
development in all areas and pride ourselves in being
able to tailor curriculum to meet the needs of each
child. We will work
closely with you to ensure that no anxiety has developed
in your child by being left at school. Generally, about
6 weeks should be given to ensure that your child has
normalized to their new environment.
All classes at
Rainy Dayz have scheduled time each day for gross motor
development. We have an indoor play space as well as
access to a large outdoor grassy area. Gross motor is
one of the first and most important areas your child
will develop. Each day they will be given free time in
this area. There will also be teacher directed
activities that promote team work and good
sportsmanship. Potty training is
not a requirement to attend school at Rainy Dayz. Potty
training is personal and does not follow any schedule
you may have for your child. Forcing this on a child to
get them into school only creates anxiety and does not
have any bearing on their success in a school
environment.
Welcome to Rainy Dayz! We look forward to working with
you and your child during their preschool years!
