Three's Curriculum Focus A 3-year-old child is full of wonder and spends a lot of time watching, observing and imitating. Their days are filled with busy explorations of their world. 3-year-olds are interested in perfecting motor skills and it is common for them to find an activity and repeat it numerous times such as doing the same puzzle over and over. These sequences are important to later understandings of change and consistency. They have very little memory for past events and do not yet understand “yesterday” and “tomorrow” the way adults do. This explains why when you ask your preschooler what they did at school today; the answer is usually a shrug of the shoulders or a verbal response of “I don’t know”. Rainy Dayz has 2 program options to meet the needs of your 3-year-old child. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 1st Day of School: September 7th, 2011 This class is ideal for the child who has already been in a two year old program or daycare setting. They are used to being in a structured environment and are eager for continued exposure to basic colors, shapes, numbers and letters. While we will continue to work on their social and emotional development, an introduction to writing and early literacy using the Hooked on Phonics® will be a main focus. Tuesdays and Thursdays 1st Day of School: September 6th, 2011 This class has been designed for a 3 year old who is just experiencing their first school program. Starting with just 2-days a week allows your child to begin separating from you and start to forge friendships and begin learning more about the world around them. An emphasis on pre-writing and early literacy using the Hooked on Phonics® program will be a main focus. Both classes will continue with the use of capital letters and in introduction to lower case letters will begin. Regular practice of writing their letters and their names will ensure that they begin to understand how putting letters of the alphabet together create words and names that we use and hear daily are formed. An introduction to math, science and social studies will round out the 3-year-old program.

Rainy Day Recess(Extended Day Program)We understand how hectic your schedules can be and have created a program to help! We now offer early drop-off and late pick-up. Combination of preschool and extended day cannot exceed 4-hours.
*Breakfast or lunch is available for an additional $3 per day for those interested.
